About This Site
Hi! I'm Robert, and a lifelong fan of the UNODC. So, that should explain why this site is all about UNODC (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime) and what it does around the world. In case you are not familiar with this organization, it is branch of the United Nations (UN), and it deals, as its name suggests, with drugs and crime.
I did not become an advocate of the UNODC and a close follower of its activities out of the blues. I once worked for the organization at its New York Offices, and through its many activities, I realized that what it does was very close to my heart. And if you are reading this, I am willing to bet we have this in common.
To make the long story short, I was bought on UNODC's agenda, and chose to do the little I can to help promote the fight against international crimes such as human trafficking, corruption, and other issues that UNODC deals with as a matter of routine.
My other love is running. And as many runners will probably tell you – shoes make the runner. I get my running shoes from FinishLine.com, a well-established shoe retail line with hundreds of store locations, a huge selection of running shoes from all my favorite brands, and a charity arm (Finish Line Youth Foundation) that responds to global humanitarian crises (link).
Anyway, my aim in creating this site was to keep my readers up to date on what the UNODC is doing around the world in its attempt to make the world a better place in an age when anarchy in form of terrorism, corruption, and humanitarian crises such as mass exoduses seem to be the order of the day.
I follow stories from the UNODC very closely, which is a habit I have not been able to shake off even after I stopped working at the organization. Not that I would want to – I am glad to learn about serious global issues from an organization that goes the extra mile to ensure that they are addressed appropriately. I highlight some of these issues on this site, after reading about them at http://www.unodc.org/unodc/en/frontpage/index.html.
So, stick around and learn what is going on in our world; and meet the unsung heroes who are going out of their way to ensure you and I have a better tomorrow.
