Ancillary meetings

In accordance with GA resolution 52/91 ancillary meetings will be held from 11 to 16 April 2000 by interested participants accredited to the Congress.  They should be planned bearing in mind both the main agenda items and the topics of the workshops and drawing upon the experiences of the Ninth Congress and earlier congresses. Their focus should be more closely geared towards attaining a practical impact. Requests for holding such meetings should be addressed to the Congress Secretariat which will be responsible for approving the requests on the basis of the above mentioned criteria and the availability of facilities. Such requests should specify (a) the proposed topic (including title and working programme), (b) duration, (c) requested seating capacity and (d) any special requirements regarding equipment. The maximum duration of an ancillary meeting is  half a day.

All requests for holding ancillary meetings should reach the Congress Secretariat before 28 February 2000.

The premises for holding ancillary meetings will be made available at the venue of the Congress. A limited amount of equipment, such as flip-charts, standing microphones with amplification, tables, chairs, etc., will be available on request. Other technical equipment required for a meeting must be supplied by the organizers. Please note, that the United Nations does not provide any financial assistance for holding ancillary meetings.
